Otis "OD" Donald Funk

of Sherwood, AR

August 23, 1941 - December 14, 2025

Otis Donald ''OD'' Hollinshead-Funk, age 84, of Sherwood, Arkansas, passed away on December 14, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 23, 1941, in Bastrop, Louisiana, OD dedicated his life to standing up for the underdog, believing deeply that all people deserve a chance to better themselves.

His father passed away when he was two years old, so he learned early to rely on his own determination. From humble beginnings, he started a backyard business that grew into a successful sheet metal manufacturing plant, with products sold through Home Depot, Walmart, and Lowe's. To OD, work was a gift, something he approached with joy, skill, and a daring attitude, as if it was a game to master. He never saw problems as obstacles, but as opportunities, and he taught others to succeed with perseverance and courage.

OD had a lifelong connection to the Boys and Girls Club, where he spent his childhood and later gave back with passion. His commitment earned him the honor of being named Man of the Year for his involvement, a recognition that reflected his devotion to helping young people thrive.

OD found joy outdoors. He loved coon hunting, fishing, playing ping pong, and especially cycling. He introduced cycling to his family and closest friends, spending countless hours riding alongside them and creating memories that will endure for generations.

OD is survived by his children: Yale Funk and Fonda Belcher (Doug); grandchildren: J.B. Belcher, Kaylee Thurman (Daniel), and Braxton Funk (Kaci); great-grandchildren: Alex Bowman, Grayson Belcher, Kayden Belcher, Julie Fitzgerald, and Lola Thurman; and lifelong friends Charlie Hightower and Johnny Drake. He was preceded in death by his father, Odus Funk, and his mother, Marie Walker Adamson.

A private celebration of OD's life will be held with his family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Little Rock Boys and Girls Club, honoring his lifelong commitment to uplifting underprivileged children.
