Virginia Arrowoodof Harriet, AR
October 23, 1935 - December 12, 2025
Momma. Virginia Sexton Arrowood, the only one of her siblings & half siblings to not have a middle name. She waltzed into the world as a beautiful, strong, black-haired, brown-eyed bundle. She was born at home in a holler in Wellington, KY to Audrey Jack Sexton & Sarah Jane Wallen Sexton, just two years after her beloved sister Maudie Ellen Sexton Lawson. Life would hand Momma many hard knocks but God was faithfully by her side through it all. She & Maudie had to mature too early, but they did it together & grew up as best friends. They were separated for a time by marriages that led them to different places, but resumed their precious bond later in life. They will be reunited forever now.
At age 17, Virginia married Edward Arrowood (also no middle name) in January of 1953. They had three babies born into that marriage: Wanda Fay Arrowood Treat (Ben) of Cozahome, Benjamin Darrell (Bennie) Arrowood (deceased), & Jerry Edward Arrowood (Beverly) of Mountain Home. From those three children would come 11 grandchildren & 24 great grandchildren & 'to-date' 11 great great grand babies. Momma loved her babies & all these children plus many neighborhood children grew up under her loving care & watch. Many of those neighborhood kids grew up calling her granny & have taught their children to call her granny as well.
Momma also loved all animals (except maybe the squirrels that ate her bird feed) - especially the babies, that had a way of walking straight into her heart. Momma also loved birds & flowers. She was often accused of having two green thumbs. She loved God & her little church at Cozyhome & the many special friendships she bonded there. She tremendously loved riding her 4-wheeler & was known all around the area for riding out the road to visit neighbors or to pick up fresh milk at the neighbor's farm. When she was younger, momma loved floating the Buffalo River on rafts. Momma just loved! And she was loved by many. And she will be missed greatly by many, many people. In Genesis 1:31, God saw all He had created & said it was very good. I'm so thankful He created my 'very good' Momma & put her here for nine full decades! And in 1 Corinthians 13:12, we are told that we will see Him face to face! Momma is there now, seeing our Savior face to face & receiving her blessing of hearing, ''Well done, my good & faithful servant'' from our Creator. (Matthew 25:23). We miss you, Momma, but you can walk the streets of gold now without tears or worry or pain. Enjoy being with Jesus forevermore!!! Enjoy eternity with Bennie & Pearl & Maudie & so many other loved ones who left before you. We will all be reunited with you soon.
