Bobby James Hitt

Bobby James Hitt, 91, of Monroe, LA, passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2025. He was born on September 5, 1934, in Harrisburg, AR, to Levi and Maurice (Donel) Hitt. Bobby graduated from Nettleton High School in Jonesboro, AR, in 1952, after which he worked as a radio telegrapher on the railroad for two years before joining the Navy. While enlisted in the Navy, he attended Radioman's and Submarine School. He served honorably for five years aboard a submarine as a radio operator. After his military service, he became a transportation manager for Howard Brothers headquartered in Monroe, LA.
Bobby had become a licensed preacher as a young man, and all through his years of military service and work he spread the gospel and shared his faith with anyone that would listen. He and a member and Deacon of Parkview Baptist Church in Monroe, and a member of Gideon's International. As a member of Gideon, a Deacon, a Sunday school teacher, and a grief counselor, he impacted many lives. On April 10, 1999, he married Sara Holman of Jonesboro, AR, and enjoyed twenty-six years of marriage before his death. His love of God and family, along with his gentleness and handsome smile will be missed by so many until we see him again.
Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, Levi and Maurice (Donel) Hitt; brother Levi Howard Hitt; and his first wife, Virginia Ann Hitt.
Those left to remember Bobby are his wife Sara L. Hitt; son Timothy Hitt and his wife Robin; daughter Faith Marx and her husband Daryl; grandchildren Mia, Scarlett, Connor, Tyler, Matthew, and Nicholas and his fiancé Sadie Ragusa; brothers Curtis Wayne Hitt, Tommy E. Hitt, Maurice L. Hitt, and Kenneth Barry Hitt; sister Evelyn Janet Hitt; and many more family, friends and loved ones.
A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at Roller Farmers Union Funeral Home (1900 W. Washington Ave. Jonesboro, AR 72401) with Rev. Maurice L. Hitt officiating. Burial will follow at Kellers Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation will precede the funeral beginning at 1pm.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Timothy Hitt, Matthew S. Marx, Nicholas S. Marx, Daryl Marx, Curtis Wayne Hitt, Tommy E. Hitt, Kenneth Barry Hitt, and Maurice L. Hitt.
