Nelda Rae Barnes was born on December 24, 1929 in Lead Hill, AR. She was the daughter of Jarrett and Elsie (Harwell) Bell. She went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.

She was married to Reverend Jack Barnes on October 26, 1949. She was a Baptist pastor's wife for 48 years. Her husband passed away in 1997. Many souls were saved under their leadership.

She worked at the Arkansas Baptist Boys Ranch for 10 years as a house parent. Many young boys came to know Christ through her love and teachings. She enjoyed singing in the choir with her siblings, cooking for her friends and family, gardening, watching the St. Louis Cardinals and spending time with her son, grandchildren and brothers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters, one brother and a host of relatives and friends.

Survivors include her son, John Mark Barnes of Harrison; two granddaughters, Taesha (Barnes) Bliss and husband, David Bliss of Harrison and Callie Barnes; two sweet great-grandsons, Jace and Camden of Western Grove and two brothers, Neil and Welden Bell both of Harrison.

She spent her last days in the Ridgemont Addition of Hillcrest Home where she received excellent care.
