Talitha Jean Hurstof Plumberville, AR
January 22, 1934 - October 30, 2025
It is with great sadness and joy to announce the peaceful passing of Talitha Jean Hurst on October 30, 2025, at her home in Plumerville, Arkansas. We will miss her terribly but take joy in the fact that she is now at peace with our Lord. She was born in Harrison County, Missouri on January 22, 1934.
Talitha had a full and fruitful life. She grew up in rural Iowa with eight brothers and sisters. After her children started school, she went back to school and became an RN. Her favorite time working was on the labor and delivery floors. Taking care of children and babies was her ideal job. Besides her own children, she also helped raise her stepchildren and a few other children that came into her life along the way. Her other hobbies included gardening, crocheting, camping and sponsoring people in the AA program. She not only had a large garden every year but also enjoyed canning and preserving food. She won many blue ribbons at the local fairs with her crocheting. Later she became the judge of the crocheting at the fairs. Marion and mom spent many years camping across the United States during the time Marion was doing upholstering. She enjoyed her time camping but eventually they settled back down on Wye Mountain. Talitha met Marion at an AA meeting and throughout the years coordinated the annual fish fry as well as sponsored many people in the program. She always wanted to be busy and useful.
Talitha was a Christian all her life. She grew up in the RLDS church and in later years she attended a Methodist church. Throughout her married life there was a daily morning devotion and monthly communion conducted at home with her husband.
Talitha is survived by her husband Marion Hurst and nine of her children; Billy Allen Lancaster, Janice Carol Jenkins, Dena Shephard Madden, Talitha Gale Wilson, Michael Darren Hurst, Victoria Elaine Major, Rezana Von Hunt, Cara Rena Hurst and Amanda Gail Hurst. She also has many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her son Ronald Dean Lancaster and stepdaughter Marlyn Gale Edwards.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Sunday November 9, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church located at 2400 Prince St, Conway Ar. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Conway Cradle Care at cradlecare.org or the AA program at Willow Hall at arkansascentraloffice.org
