of Jonesboro, AR
August 1, 1960 - October 3, 2025
Edward Scott Crow, affectionately known as Scott, was born on August 1,1960, in Meridian, Mississippi. He spent his childhood in Memphis, Tennessee, and the rest of his life was in Arkansas. He passed from this life on Friday, October 3, 2025, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro, Arkansas, at the age of 65.
Scott was a 1978 graduate of the Southern Baptist Educational Center in Memphis. In the early 1970s he joined the Boy Scouts of America and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, an honor that reflected his dedication, leadership, and love for the outdoors. He later served as Troop Leader for Troop Ole 97 guiding younger scouts with patience and humor.
Over the years Scott worked many jobs and wore many hats but those who knew him best understood that his true calling in life was being a father and a ''Pa.'' His daughters, Natasha and Melissa, were his heart and his pride. He taught them about music, nature, and seeing the world with curiosity and kindness. To his grandsons Nathaniel and Carter, he was a source of laughter, stories, and unconditional love.
Scott was a man of depth and authenticity - known for his strong work ethic, encyclopedic knowledge of wildlife (especially snakes), plants, and his uncanny ability to fix just about anything. He was also a self-taught guitarist who filled his home with music and joy. His humor could light up a room, and his kindness left a lasting imprint on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
He was of Baptist faith and held close the values of compassion, humility, and family. He was interested in biblical history and studied other non-Christian faiths to learn how they got where they are. It was important to him that all his family and friends embraced and accepted the salvation of Jesus Christ.
Scott is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Joan Renfrow Crow, whom he surely ran to upon reaching heaven.
He is survived by his father, Robert (Janette) Crow of Jonesboro; his daughters, Natasha LeAnn Crow and Melissa JoAnn Crow, both of Jonesboro; sisters, Paula (John) Ronza of Little Rock and Jackie Crow of Benton; bonus brother, Michael (Kelly) Smith of Miami, Oklahoma; grandsons, Nathaniel (Mikey) Self of Hot Springs, Carter Robertson Crow of Jonesboro and Evelyn Smith of Trumann; great-grandson, Oliver Clark Self; nieces, Ambry (Caleb) Kamarunas, Megan (Ryan) Childers, and Ainsley Smith; nephews, Jason (Mandy) Ronza, Steven (Paige) Ronza and Major Smith; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
He will be remembered as a loving father, devoted son and brother, gentle soul, and faithful Pa. His legacy lives on in the music he shared, the lessons he taught, and the love that continues to surround his family.
