of Little Rock, AR

November 2, 1943 - September 30, 2025

Charlie Yvonne Ivey-Ball-Coats, 81, of Miami, Florida; Detroit, Michigan and Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on September 30, 2025, leaving behind a void that can never be filled.

Born on November 2, 1943 in the vibrant city of Miami to parents, Charlie and Tomie Sears Coats, Charlie Yvonne grew up in a loving household filled with laughter and song. She graduated from high school and later made her home in Detroit, Michigan, where she provided catering services to her community. Known for her warm heart and creative spirit, she was admired for her singing, generosity and playful sense of humor.

A faithful member of Solomon's Temple Church, Charlie Yvonne devoted many years to worship, volunteering and serving others. She found great joy in cooking, catering, dressing elegantly, always with one of her signature hats, and sharing meals with loved ones. Her entrepreneurial spirit and unwavering work ethic inspired everyone who knew her.

In her later years, Charlie Yvonne was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, a condition that slowly affected her memory but never dimmed her spirit. Through every stage of her illness, she remained her same personable, thoughtful and loving self, always glowing with warmth and grace. Even as the disease progressed, her beautiful voice still carried melodies of faith and her smile continued to brighten every room she entered. To family, friends and those blessed to know her, she remained a singer, a faithful churchgoer, a talented cook, a devoted mother, a proud grandmother and a cherished friend to many.

After her diagnosis, Charlie Yvonne chose to relocate to Arkansas to live among her family, where she was surrounded with love, comfort and care during her final journey.

Charlie Yvonne was the proud and devoted mother of five children: Frankie Coats, the late Randall Coats, Charlie Coats, Qwinyatta Ivey and Tiffanie Taylor, her pride and joy. She often said that her children's births changed her life for the better, a love they felt deeply through her unwavering support.

She was also the cherished grandmother of fourteen: Randall J. Coats, Francis Harris, Ashley Coats, Frankie Coats Jr., Brandon Coats, Ryan Coats, Kelsey Bennette, Zenarra James, Savannah Coats, Jocelyn Jenkins, Savion Coats, Samuel C. Taylor V, Matthew C. Taylor and Andrew C. Taylor. Her legacy continues through her sixteen great-grandchildren, who will carry her strength and love forward for generations to come.

Charlie Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings, Daniel Coats, Otis Coats, Northern Coats, Lester Coats, Dorine Marshall, Annie Mae Elleby, Bessie and Essie Coats (twins), Christine Calhoun and Mandy Coats and her beloved son, Randall Coats.

She is survived by her children, Frankie, Charlie, Qwinyatta and Tiffanie, who will forever remember the love, laughter and wisdom she brought into their lives.

''Truly I tell you, wherever this gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her.'' Matthew 26:13

To my mother in heaven, I will forever miss you. Your lessons will live on in my heart and I am eternally grateful for the time we shared. Your love will guide me always.
