Edward McCoy Newman "Mack" stepped into heaven on August 29, 2025 at Baptist Hospital at Little Rock.
He was born December 1,1941 in Wilburn, Arkansas. He is survived by his wife of 22 1\2years, Velma "Jean" (Brent) Newman of Mayflower. He had 6 grown stepchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Mary D. Newman Strickland and husband, Hank of Shannon Hills.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Barney M. Newman and Lula "Ethel" Newman of Wilburn; his 4 siblings, Bonnie Mae Newman of Wilburn, Betty Lou Newman Harris and husband, Ernest of Wilburn, Gean Newman Hazelwood and husband, Albert of Pangburn and later Heber Springs and brother, Robert Newman and wife, Irene of Wilburn, Arkansas. Mack is survived by several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Mac served 4 years in the Army during war time in the Vietnam War. He was a mechanic on the jeeps and trucks. He was good at this, seeing it was one of his favorite hobbies besides hunting. He loved to deer hunt, put him in the woods and he was at home.
As far as careers, he had a long one. He went to work for Barqs Bottling Company when he returned from Vietnam in 1970 and continued until they were bought out by Coca Cola, where he retired in 2002.
His love for God and his Church showed more than anything in his life. He was a member of the Northside Apostolic Church in Mayflower.
Visitation will be held at noon on Thursday, August 4th with funeral service following at 1pm at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. Burial with military honors will be at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock, time and date will be announced later.
