of Little Rock, AR
September 12, 1960 - August 21, 2025
The Hoover children wish to announce the passing of their father, John Hoover on August 21st, 2025 at his home in Little Rock, AR.
Born in Chicago on September 12th, 1960 to Derald ''Fuzzy'' Hoover and Marjorie Hannah (nee Bendig), John was the youngest of 5 children and a beloved little brother, older cousin and the fun uncle. He graduated alongside his mother, Marjorie and his stepdad, Glenn Hannah from Bridgman High School in Bridgman, MI. Following graduation, he worked in sheet metal shops throughout Chicago.
After moving to Arkansas and starting a family, John attended Harding University for a brief time, until he was hired at Interstate Highway Sign Corporation in late 1989. He dedicated 35 years to the company in multiple roles and was instrumental in much of their success. As plant supervisor, John put people and practicality first. His knowledge and love for people made him ''indispensable'', as he liked to say. His pride in his work was only outmatched by his love and devotion to his children.
John raised 5 children, instilling in them a strong sense of self, appreciation for good music, loyalty to the Chicago Bears and resilience in hardship. He fostered fun and joy in the hardest of times and had full confidence in the brilliance, ingenuity and capability of each of them.
Deeply generous, John lived life on his terms, surrounded by people that he loved. He kept family connected and was the voice of wisdom, discernment and common sense for so many.
He is mourned by his 5 children, Ashley Smith (Elijah), Holly Belcher, Adam Hoover (Kylee), Alex Hoover and Jordan Hoover (Chelsea). He is already missed by his grandchildren, Triston Hoover, Auston and Olivia Hoover, Haylee Belcher, Kaitlyn Belcher, Tynain Hoover, Kingston Hoover, Taelyn Hoover, Rylee Hoover, Gunnar Hoover, Tyler Belcher, Talia Smith, Donnie Hoover and Emma Hoover and his great-granddaughter, Kinsley Hoover.
John is also survived by his longtime partner, Neda Jo Weaver; his stepfather, Glenn Hannah and his brothers, David Hoover and Edward Martin Hoover.
Funeral service will be 12:00 p.m. Thursday, August 28, 2025 at Roller-Drummond Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Salem Cemetery-East End.
