Hardy Cloutier, lovingly known as PawPaw, passed away at the age of 95. Born on May 14,1930, in Cloutierville, Louisiana, Hardy passed away at his home in Germantown, TN. Hardy was the son of Daisy Mae Hust and Julbert Cloutier. He grew up amid the rural farmlands of Natchitoches Parish,LA, coming of age during the Great Depressionâ€"a time that shaped his work ethic and enduring love for community and family.
Hardy married the love of his life, Nina Jane (Bradley) Cloutier, on December 27,1958, in Warren, Arkansas. Their marriage was a true partnership of 51 years, lasting until Nina's passing in 2010. Together, they built a strong family, calling Marianna, AR their home. At her death, he moved to Germantown,TN. He was was preceded in death by his sisters, Irna, Mabel, and Corrine.
He is survived by their four devoted children, Michael Cloutier (Kathryn) of Germantown, TN, Stephen Cloutier (Noel) of Coppell, TX, Jenna Grubbs (Eric K.) of Las Vegas, NV, and Tracy Doyle (Tim) of Morristown, TX.
Hardy was blessed with twelve grandchildren: Anna Grace Doyle; Lauren (Jeff Pflanz), Caroline, and Julianna Grubbs; Lindsey(John Griesse), Cole, Kyle( Emma), and Kaylee Cloutier; Meagan (Dillon Jenkins), John Michael, James (Anna), and Abbie Cloutier; and three great-grandchildren, Bennett, Bauer and Lucy.
He is also survived by his special friend, Mary Patricia Wright,
Completing eighth grade, Hardy later entered military service at the age of 17, joining the military police during post-World War II wartime prosecutionsâ€"a formative period that reflected his sense of duty and principle. He later served as First Sergeant in the National Guard for thirty years, displaying exemplary leadership and commitment.
Hardy pursued his passion for agriculture, earning both his BS and MS degrees in Agriculture from the University of Arkansas. He actively participated in the Agronomy Club, Newman's Catholic Club, and served as a dorm counselor. He was a proud Razorback, always ''Calling the Hogs'' on gameday.
His professional legacy includes years as an Arkansas Soil Conservationist in McGehee and Marianna, Arkansas, and as Lee County Appraiser. He contributed to the welfare of his community through meaningful work and active civic engagement. Hardy was a Rotary Club member, served as president, and was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow. He organized American Red Cross blood drives (donating over 30 gallons in his lifetime),
A man of deep Catholic faith, Hardy was closely connected to St. Andrews Catholic Church in Marianna, serving as a lector for liturgical readings and supporting parish initiatives for many years.
He was a gardener at heart, practicing organic methods long before they became mainstream, and known for providing produce to family and neighbors. He founded the community garden at Brookdale Senior Living Community.
In his years in Germantown, he competed in the Senior Outstanding Olympics as an Athlete over 90. Hardy was a lifelong health advocate and participated as a guest lecture as an 85-year-old ''My Favorite Octogenarians'' .
Hardy was an encouraging friend to many, possessing a quick wit and dry humor that lifted family gatherings and community events. He never met a stranger and offered support and good cheer to people from all walks of life.
When asked about living a long life he said, ''I'd like to live as long as I'm able to be of service to others.'' That he did! He was a good and faithful servant.

Hardy Cloutier is remembered for his devotion to family, faith, and his communityâ€"a man who worked diligently for a better world and who lived a life of generosity, humility, and grace. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, leadership, and resilience.
Funeral mass will be at 11:00am August 25, 2025 at St. Andrews Catholic Church with a 12:00 pm reception and visitation at the church. This will be followed by a graveside service for family only.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made o Arkansas Community Center ( arcf.org ) or St. Andrews Catholic Church, PO BOX 724 , Marianna, AR 72360. A great way to honor Hardy's legacy of service would be to donate blood to the American Red Cross.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
