Sandra ''Sandy'' Powell Cook, age 74, of West Memphis, Arkansas passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at Baptist Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. She was born in Memphis, Tennessee on September 24, 1950 to T.P. and Vera Powell who preceded her in death.

Sandy was a dedicated longtime member of First United Methodist Church in West Memphis. She served in many organizations and on many committees over the years. She truly loved her church and church family. Her service to her church was through her strong belief and life commitment to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Sandy was a dedicated and very compassionate school teacher. Her career started in the Hughes, Arkansas school district and ended with retirement from the Marion, Arkansas school district where she was honored as Teacher of the Year in 2005. It seemed like every time she traveled, regardless of distance or destination, she would run into a former student. She touched many lives while being a schoolroom teacher.

Those left to remember and cherish Sandy are her beloved and devoted husband of 51 years, David, who cared for her to the end; brother, Ron Powell (Diane) of West Point, MS; Debra Shults (Jody) of Louisville, NE; sister in law, Gina Cook Knox (Russell) of Germantown, TN who spent numerous hours helping to care for her through the years and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that were all special to her and brought he much joy in her life.

In lieu of flowers, Sandy's wish would be for memorial contributions to be made to First United Methodist Church, West Memphis, AR or a charity of the donor's choice.
