He initially worked in the construction industry installing water lines before spending the next 20 years at Ward School Bus, including time in the late 1970's in Saudi Arabia training bus mechanics. After Wards, he spent 2 years working for Potter Jeep in Conway traveling the country promoting their new fiberglass hardtop for jeeps. Known for dabbling in about anything, Moose and his late son Jeff operated a canoe rental business at Thad Harvey's, The Good Sport sporting goods store. Prior to full time retirement, he traversed Arkansas and surrounding states for the former Linn's Auto Salvage driving a car hauler for 12 years. Moose was a member of Second Baptist Church, long time member of the Beaverfork Water Board and in the 1970's served as a Faulkner County reserve deputy sheriff with the water rescue team under former Sheriff Joe Martin.
Moose was an avid outdoorsman spending as much time as possible in the woods hunting deer, bear, turkey and floating the White River in Flippin fishing for rainbow and brown trout. When not hunting game, he spent time lounging on the front porch of the cabin up at The Hill with family and hunting buddies.
