of Little Rock, AR
April 5, 1938 - August 5, 2025
Larry Duane Bixler, age 87, of Little Rock, Arkansas passed away peacefully at his home on August 5, 2025. He was born on April 5, 1938 in Alva, Oklahoma to Lawrence Clayton Bixler and Johnnie Juanita (Seaman) Bixler.
Larry grew up on a 160-acre farm in Carrier, Oklahoma and was one of just thirteen students to graduate from Carrier High School in 1956. An active member of Future Farmers of America, he proudly raised prize-winning Berkshire sows that won at the Kansas City Royal Livestock Show. He went on to attend Oklahoma A&M, now known as Oklahoma State University, in Stillwater.
His professional career began at Hackney Steel, followed by a long tenure with Pittsburgh Plate Glass (PPG), where he worked from 1958 to 1981. In 1972, he transferred from Enid, Oklahoma to Little Rock, Arkansas as a store manager, playing a key role in the construction of the current PPG location on Cantrell Road.
In 1981, Larry founded National Solutions, serving as its CEO and establishing himself as a visionary in the wallcovering industry. His legacy of leadership and innovation spans over four decades and three generations of family.
Larry is survived by his wife of 66 years, Pat Bixler; his children, Michael Bixler (Sherri) and Shelly Bixler; his grandchildren, Katie Kerr (Dalton) and Jason McLeod Kidder (Dana) and his great-grandchildren, Kodi and Maeve Kidder.
He is also survived by his siblings, Lloyd Bixler (Peggy) of Enid, OK, John Bixler (Karen) of Lake Wales, FL and Maribeth Bixler-Jones (Ray) of Tallahassee, FL. He was preceded in death by his sister, Vicky Jordan.
Larry (aka Poppy) loved spending time boating and camping with his family at Lake Ouachita and was an avid, if not always successful, fisherman. A farmer at heart, he was also a devoted friend, gifted storyteller and beloved source of humor. His laughter and kindness made everyone feel like family.
Larry was truly one of a kind...
