Terry Donohue, 76, passed peacefully to the other side of life on July 20, 2025, at his home with his wife and son at his side. Terry was born in Chicago, IL, the eldest of 5 siblings to Catherine and Terry Donohue. Terry was preceded in death by his son, Gavin Donohue; parents, Terry and Catherine (Geary) Donohue; his niece, Laura Haines; and his nephew, Brian Haines.
Terry is survived by his wife, Cristie; son, Patrick Donohue (Ruth) and their children, Sawyer, Sullivan and Stella (MO); stepsons, Rod Weber (Sara) and their children, Trevar and Olivia (MO) and Chris Weber (Kim),(IN); his sisters, Susan Haines (Don) of NC; and Mary Kay Jones (Bob) of Ct; his brothers, Michael Donohue (Sally), of WA, and Patrick Donohue (Kathy), of IL; 5 nieces; Lisa, Kelly, Clare, Molly, Caitlyn and Emily; 3 nephews; Daniel, Matt and Kevin; many cousins and a group of wonderful and beloved friends.
One thing Terry took special pride in was that all four of his Grandparents immigrated from Ireland giving him 100 percent Irish heritage. A particularly special memory for him were trips to Ireland where we visited cousins and walked on land on which his ancestors had lived for centuries.
Terry received a BS and MS from Southern Illinois University. He spent most of his career with the State of Illinois Department of Agriculture where he was Bureau Chief for the Bureau of Soil and Water Conservation. After retiring from the State of Illinois he served as Executive Director of the Association of Illinois Soil and Water Conservation Districts. Terry found his work meaningful and always enjoyed the people he worked with. He felt his work protecting Illinois farmland and water quality was beneficial to all the people of Illinois.
Terry and Cristie shared a love of nature, and upon Cristie's retirement they moved to the Buffalo National River area to take advantage of the many recreational opportunities there.
Terry was truly a gentle man. He was loving, kind, caring, honest and had a generous spirit. He cared deeply about other people and was always more interested in their lives and experiences than in talking about himself.
Family was the most important thing to Terry and he loved them all unconditionally. Other things of primary importance to Terry were: Nature, where he not only enjoyed many activities, but, also worked to support it's preservation and protection.
Music was always a constant in Terry's life, he always looked forward to opportunities for live performances. Travel was another love. Terry was adventurous and took advantage of any opportunities for new adventures while working and after retirement.
A private service was held at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home followed by cremation. Memorial contributions in Terry's memory may be made to the Ozark Humane Society, Harrison, Arkansas.
