Russell David Brown and his wife, Sandy Brown, were holding hands and reminiscing about their 35 years together when Russell passed away Friday, August 1, 2025 in Paris. He was 84.
Russell was born on August 5, 1940 in the old Smith Hospital in Paris to his parents, Mandel Russell Brown and Roberta Ruth (Howell) Brown. He graduated from Paris High School class of 1958 with the honor of Mr. Paris High. He moved to Southern California and attended Cerritos College for two years obtaining an Associate of Arts degree. He then went to work in landscaping for KEC Company and Big 5 landscaping in Southern California until joining Western Sweeper Sales and Service in Paris, Arkansas. He worked as owner and operator for Western Sweeper Sales and Service till he retired in 2001. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Paris, where he served as the song leader and helped with their Community Meals on Thursday nights. He was active in the community, serving on the Board of Directors for (COS) the Community Outreach Store and the Board of Directors at the Paris Senior Center. He was also an active member of the Logan County Quilting Guild. For several years he and Sandy donated many quilts they made to COS. He enjoyed spending time with his family, singing songs, fixing things around the house and keeping Sandy happy.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, James M. Brown and sister, Jan Brown Kendall.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sandy Brown of the home; three sons, Treg Brown and wife, Lori of Minnesota, Todd Brown of Arkansas, Jason Brown and wife, Jennifer of Pennsylvania; one daughter, Sally Paige Timko of Texas; a sister, Patty Coughlin and husband, Frank of New Hampshire; his first wife and mother of his children, Edwina Peevy Brown of California; two nephews, Jeff Kendall of Arkansas and Derek Brown of Texas; a niece, Shannon Burns of Arkansas; grandchildren, Jansen, Asher and Halle of Minnesota, Liam of Illinois, Brittany and Jack of Pennsylvania; great grandson, Jason Xavier of Pennsylvania; many other family members and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 9, 2025 at the Paris Christian Church officiated by Rev. H.C. Varnadore. Burial of cremated remains will immediately follow the memorial service at Oakwood Cemetery in Paris.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Paris Senior Citizens Center at 331 S 1st St, Paris, AR 72855.
