Betty Loucile Burdineof Harrison, AR
February 7, 1936 - July 31, 2025
Betty "Loucile" Burdine, age 89, of Harrison, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 31, 2025, in Jasper. Loucile was born on February 7, 1936, in Mt. Judea, Arkansas, to Frederck Joseph and Hester Hosanna Foster Hefley.
She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Jasper and later the Falling Water Church. Loucile's life was a testament to her faith and love for her family. She graduated in 1953 from Mt. Judea High School. She married William Burdine on May 6, 1955, at the old Baptist Church in Jasper, celebrating 57 years together.
She received her bachelor's degree from Ouachita Baptist University in Education and taught English. She was the girls' basketball coach at Deer High School for over thirty years. She was an exceptional dessert cook, especially her blackberry cobbler, using the berries her husband picked. She also enjoyed writing poetry and songs.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Irvin Burdine; her parents; three brothers, James C., Howard J., and Johnny Hefley; her sisters, Jimmie Fern Winstead and Freddie Gelease Walker; her grandson, James Nathaniel Burdine; her grandson-in-law, Aaron Pawlonek, and countless grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends.
She is survived by her loving family, including her sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Becky Burdine and Boyce and Carol Burdine; her daughter, Mary Alice Burdine; her twin sister, Mary Louise Stewart and Patricia ''Patsy'' Henderson, all of Harrison. Loucile's legacy continues through her grandchildren, Amy, Lacey, Brian, Hannah, Russell, Jon, Nikki, Pam, Hope and Noah and eighteen great-grandchildren, and a host of dear family and friends.
Visitation was held on Monday, August 4, 2025.
The funeral service was also held on Monday, August 4, 2025, with Jon Burdine officiating, with both taking place at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.
Interment was at Mt. Judea Cemetery.
Pallbearers were her family and friends. Honorary pallbearers were the students and faculty of Deer Schools.
