David Earl Johnson

David Earl Johnson, 81, of Paris, Arkansas passed away surrounded by his loving family on Monday, July 28, 2025 at his home. He was born on July 8, 1944 in Houston, Arkansas to his parents, D.M. and Elsie (Sampley) Johnson.

David worked for almost 30 years for Pentzien as a boat captain. His boat was responsible for dredging many miles of the river and constructing many rock dykes. He later worked for Mobley Construction where he was a heavy equipment operator. David was a true outdoorsman who loved to go fishing, hunting and camping, especially going to deer camp with his family. He could always be found tinkering with something in his shop. David was a hard worker and avid outdoorsman but his life always centered around his faith and family. He was a dedicated member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and his most cherished memories were made spending time with his family, especially his precious grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by four brothers, Lyndal Johnson, Hoss Johnson, Jimmy Johnson and Johnny Johnson; one sister, Melvina Johnson; one half sister, Lucille Reynolds and two grandchildren, Marissa and Alissa Johnson.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sue (Fox) Johnson; two sons, Adam Johnson and wife, Heather of Paris and Daniel Johnson and wife, Melissa of Subiaco; one sister, Doris Smart and husband, Rex of Perryville; one brother, Richard Johnson of Perryville; five grandchildren, Richie Johnson and wife, Brittany, Kailee Stinnett and husband, Preston, Morgan Johnson, Trevor Johnson and wife, Shadow and Karissa Johnson; two great grandchildren, Charlie Johnson and Ryder Stinnett and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.

A memorial visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Paris. A memorial service will follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Rev. Jeremy Jones. Burial of cremated remains will be at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery near Magazine by the family at a later date.
