of Clinton, AR
August 20, 1943 - July 24, 2025
Mrs. Roger P. Williams went to her heavenly home on July 24, 2025 in the presence of her loved ones. She was born in Grinnell, Iowa on August 20, 1943 to the late Roy Chilson and Ouita (Halbrook) Patton.
Roger was a devout Christian and member of Pee Dee Baptist Church. She spent many years teaching Sunday School and was a proud member of the Joy of Living Bible study group. Roger married the love of her life, Tommy Lane Williams in 1965. They spent the next 60 years together sharing life, laughter and love. They welcomed two children into this union. She was a dedicated high school math teacher, spending 35 years teaching at various high schools across the state of Arkansas. She started her teaching career at Whitehall after graduating from Arkansas State Teachers College, what is now the University of Central Arkansas. While following her husband's work she also taught in Monticello, Conway and Camden. Outside of studying God's word and teaching, she raised her children and enjoyed gardening and quilting. She was a member of the Master Gardeners. Her quilting ability led her to a group that made quilts for CASA and foster children, just one more way she served her Lord. She lived by her favorite verse, Joshua 1:9 "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."
She was preceded in death by her sister, Merle Patton.
Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband, Tommy Lane Williams; children, David Lane Williams and wife, Gienah, Jennifer Brooke Williams; grandchild, Andrew Lane Williams and siblings, Chilson Patton, Elota Patton and Sam Patton.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at Pee Dee Baptist Church in Clinton, Arkansas. Funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. Interment will be at Pee Dee Cemetery.
