Mary Lou Talbert

of Benton, AR

July 11, 1933 - July 19, 2025

Our loving mother, Mary Lou Wylie Talbert, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2025 at Mt. Carmel Residential Facility in Benton, Arkansas. She was born on July 11,1933 to John Elder Wylie, Sr. and Annie B. Gillis Wylie in Carthage, Arkansas.

Mary graduated from Carthage High School in 1951 and after three years at Henderson State Teacher's College, mom graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics. Her teaching career lasted three years.

Mary met the love of her life in second grade when she laid eyes on the cutest little red-headed, freckled faced boy named "Charlie Boy Talbert". They married 14 years later and had 27 wonderful years together enjoying family life with four children. ln 1967, the family moved from Carthage, Arkansas to Benton, Arkansas to start a business in the forestry industry which lasted 55 1/2 years.

Mom was a faithful active member of First Presbyterian Church for 58 years where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, Elder and always involved with fellowships.

Daddy passed away at the early age of 47, which left mom without her husband that she loved with all her heart. She had to adjust quickly as one of the owner/operators of Talbert Timber and she worked hard to continue this business. The employees, contractors and vendors had the utmost respect for Mary Talbert due to her kind business skills, her compassion for others and her ability to listen and understand. She was known by many as "Boss Lady" and "Ms. Mary". She worked, loving her family business until the amazing age of 89.

Mom was adored, respected and admired all her 4 children, all her 9 grandchildren and all her grands. One of mom's favorite things to do was to be where her kids were doing every kind of sports, recital, church activity, play, birthday party, school event and to be totally involved in their life. Many times, mom was called to get kids after school and they loved it because there would be an amazing treat that usually involved ice cream. Also, mom enjoyed putting together their puzzles, especially with the "grands", reading romantic Christian books, reading the newspaper from cover to cover and was a sponsor for many community events and kids' activities. Log-a-Load raised money for Arkansas Children's Hospital which mom was a major contributor. Mom, Memaw, was dearly loved and will be missed.

Mom loved to travel. There were many family trips to Branson, Missouri and she went on bus tours to Alaska, Canada, Washington, D.C. and others. There was a trip to New York City with some family members and we saw "Mama Mia" which she laughed until she hurt. Mary Talbert enjoyed ballroom dancing for number of years. Mom was just the best.

Our mom was predeceased way too soon by her loving and devoted husband, Charles "Charlie Boy" Talbert. Also preceding her in
death: Richard "Dick" (Bonnie Jean) Wylie, John Jr. (Lucille) Wylie, Gene (Margene) Wylie, William "Bill" (Carolyn) Wylie, Douglas "Sonny" (Paula) Wylie, Rex Wylie, Betty Wylie, James Johnson, Rayford Rodgers; grandchild, Jonathan D. Curtis and great-grandchild, Ramona Lazurus.

She is survived by her sister, Joy Rodgers; sister-in-law, Rita Johnson; children, Edward ( Becky) Talbert, Beverly Trickey, Danny (Miriam) Talbert, Jeannette (Doug) Curtis; grandchildren, Jamie Trickey Goodwin, Jacqueline (Mitchell) Bolding, Carrie (David) Donnell, Christopher (Mandy) Trickey, Joshua (Megan) Curtis, John David (Cassie) Curtis, Jonica (Harrison) Ferrell, Joanna (Kelly) Scott, Laura (Patrick) Rawhouser; great-grandchildren, Jaycee Goodwin, Reed Goodwin, Elle Bolding, Peyton Bolding, Wes Talbert Bolding, Shelby Donnell, Cole Donnell, Bowen Donnell, Anna Johnson, Braiden Trickey, Cannon Cooper, Tucker Curtis, Stella Curtis, Trapper Wylie Curtis, Harper Curtis, Hudson Ferrell, Charly Girl Ferrell, Tenley Jo Scott, Charles Christopher Scott, Dani Elizabeth
