Benny Wayne Holsted

Benny Wayne Holsted, age 81, of Leslie, Arkansas passed from this earthly life late Thursday evening, July 10th, 2025 at his home in Leslie. He was born in Marshall, Arkansas on May 22nd, 1944 to Horace Greely Holsted and Zona Ann King Holsted. Benny married Ruth Overholt on February 22nd, 1974.
Benny was a Vietnam War Veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of the Leslie United Methodist Church and enjoyed attending Nubbin Hill Church also. Benny held various jobs during his career including working in the oilfield, machine shops, cutting timber and operating heavy equipment. His true passion and calling was farming and raising cattle on part of the Holsted home place outside of Leslie. His strong work ethic along with his genuine, gentle spirit will live on in the lives of his family.
Benny is preceded in death by his parents, HG and Zona Holsted; daughter, Kari Holsted and sisters, Willie Mae Rackley and Carmie Giebel.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Ruth Overholt Holsted of the home; son, Kevin Overholt of Leslie; grandchildren, Benjamin Balcom, Elizabeth Overholt, Todd Overholt, Melissa Passmore (Austin), Becky Tilley and Charles Tilley; great-grandchildren, Daniel and Bristol Passmore and Tisha Davis; sister, Barbara Thompson of Elk City, Oklahoma; half-sister, Emma Eaton of Albany, Oregon and many extended family and friends who will also mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Benny will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 15th, 2025 at Roller-Coffman Chapel in Marshall, Arkansas with Bro. Brad Moore and Bro. Joe Dale Williams officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 till 8:00 PM Monday in the Chapel. Burial will be in Nubbin Hill Cemetery near Leslie where Benny will be laid to rest with Military Honors. Bearers will be Adam Redman, Warren Hill, Stan Hayes, Todd Ashley, Dave Watts and Doug Campbell. Honorary bearers will be Members of the VFW Post 12127, Braxton Rains, Lawrence Thurston, James Ragland, Bill Derickson and Ray Barnes.
