March 24, 1946 - July 6, 2025
Tommy Davis, 79, affectionately known as the mayor of Lunsford, passed away on July 6, 2025, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. He lived a life filled with love, joy, and unforgettable memories. Born March 24, 1946, to Adron and Ada Davis. Tommy married his beloved Linda in 1970, and together they made their home in Lunsford for over 55 years. They had one daughter, his pride and joy, Brandy.
Tommy took immense pride in his yard, keeping the grass mowed to perfection and cherishing the rose bushes and hydrangeas gifted by his sister and other family members. His love for the outdoors was evident to all who knew him.
Tommy's closest friend and partner in crime was Billy Timmons. Their adventures together were legendary, as they traveled far and wide with family and friends, leaving lasting impressions on everyone they met. Another great companion of Tommy's was his beloved dog, Boley. Before Boley's passing, they shared daily oatmeal cream pies and rides to the mailbox. Tommy took great care to ensure Boley was safe and comfortable during the annual Independence Day fireworks, driving around for hours until the coast was clear.
Tommy was also known for his role as a helper to Santa Claus, donning the red suit at family gatherings, community events, and even weddings. He brought the magic of Christmas to life, especially for one very suspicious little boy.
A dedicated provider, Tommy, ensured that Linda and Brandy always had everything they could ever want. He was no stranger to working multiple jobs and believed in doing whatever was needed to take care of his loved ones. Tommy retired from the Craighead County Road Department, where he worked diligently and made many friends.
Tommy lived his life full of love and joy, always ready with a joke or a funny comment. He was a friend to all and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend,
He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and one sister.
Tommy's legacy of kindness, humor, and dedication will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Linda Davis and their daughter, Brandy Davis (Scott Crites).
