Together, they served their community as Publisher and Co-Publisher of the Van Buren County Democrat newspaper for 47 years, shaping and documenting the life of their hometown.

Patsy was deeply involved in civic and social organizations throughout her life. She was a member of the Arkansas Press Association, National Newspaper Association, Clinton Garden Club, Clinton Business and Professional Women, Idle Hour Bridge Club and the Clinton Chamber of Commerce. In recognition of their lasting contributions to local business and community life, she and Jay were honored as Merchants of the Year by the Clinton Chamber of Commerce in 1998.

In 2003, Patsy and Jay moved to Rogers to be closer to family, where she continued to build meaningful friendships and remained active in her church and community.
