Mary Alice Hardy Mosley of Conway, AR passed away on June 1, 2025. She was born May 11, 1939 in Hattiesburg, MS to the late Richard Nance Hardy and Mary Alice Batson Hardy. Mary was preceded in death by her son, Walter L. Mosley, New York artist.
Left to cherish her memory is her long-time friend and companion, Sally Roden. Also left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Mary Denham (Molly) Mosley-Goren and son, Richard Hardy (Rusty) Mosley. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Matthew Goren; her grandchildren, Maeli Ariel and Benjamin Hardy and her grandson-in-law, Bradley McKnight and great-grandchild, Hazel Bailey; as well as her daughter-in-law, Cristy Mosley and her grandchildren, Lucy Grace, Mary Lynn and Jackson Hardy. Mary is further survived by her brother-in-law, Edward Sartain and niece, Bethany McCann and her family.
Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and cousin. Her family all were loved, cherished and admired by Mary. Mary enjoyed parties and gatherings and ''being on the fun train'' with family and friends. She was active in her church her entire life, serving as an elder and deacon and singing in the choir from her early years in Dallas, TX at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church and throughout her life at churches in Natchitoches, LA and First Presbyterian Church of Conway.
Mary loved music and playing the piano. She enjoyed playing bridge with friends. She was active in the Conway Symphony Orchestra Guild, serving as Guild President for nine years and then as parliamentarian. Another activity important to her was serving on committees for the Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre Association.
Mary served in the Little Rock School District (LRSD) for many years as Reading Supervisor and Director of the Instructional Resource Center. She left the LRSD to teach at the University of Central Arkansas (UCA) in Conway. She taught graduate students pursuing their master's degrees in Reading and Literacy Instruction at the UCA Reading Success Center, which Mary initiated and directed for more than 12 years. Upon retirement from UCA, Mary remained active in the International Reading Association at the state and national levels.
A visitation will be held at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway on Tuesday, June 3rd at 6-8 PM. A memorial service will be held at Conway First Presbyterian Church (FPC) in Conway on Wednesday, June 4th starting at 10 AM, with a reception to follow. Private burial will be held on a later date at Crestlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mary H. Mosley Student Assistance Fund, CSO Guild, for student musician support.
