Joy Landrum, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2025 in Marion, Arkansas. She was 92 years young, having been born on May 30, 1932 in Booneville, Mississippi to her parents, Lucille Bolton Houston Patton and Paul Jack Houston.

Joy possessed a tremendous spirit and always greeted those around her with a sweet smile. A long-time resident of West Memphis, Arkansas, she dedicated 35 years of her life to education, primarily teaching second grade at Weaver Elementary School, where she touched the lives of countless young learners. Following her career in education, Joy continued to serve her community through her work in the fitting room at Walmart for several years.

Her life was deeply rooted in her faith and her community. Joy was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of West Memphis for over 50 years. Her love and devotion extended to her family, who were the center of her world. She is survived by her loving daughters, Kim Covington (Tracy) and Melinda Montgomery (Bryan). Her legacy lives on through her beloved grandchildren, Brooke Birdno, Blake Birdno (Amber), Kiersten Covington and Tyler Covington (Lexie), as well as her adored great-grandchildren: Mason, Matthew and McCoy Birdno; Ollie Birdno; Gabriella Maranto; Kenlee Frasure; Riley Beech; Charlee Beech and Jett Covington.

Joy was preceded in death by her loving husband, James W. Landrum, her parents and her brother, Jack.
