Alma Louise Treat, age 92 of Leslie, Arkansas went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, May 10th, 2025 at NARMC in Harrison, Arkansas. She was born in Leslie, Arkansas on October 22nd, 1932 at home, to Thomas ''Tom'' Eli Campbell and Grace Lillian Gloden Campbell. In her own words she said ''I was told I was found in a brush pile, (Found is a nice word) but I never believed it or worried about that.''

Louise was raised on a farm just a hop, skip and a jump outside of Leslie by way of Nubbin Hill road. She was the second oldest of five sisters and two brothers. She said that it always amazed her that, and I quote ''Out of ten of us there were no two who were born in the same month. I'd like to know the odds of that. Only March and September left. I guess if there had been two more they would have been in those months.'' She and her siblings all attended Old Main School in Leslie from which she graduated in May of 1950. Her senior year was the first year that Leslie acquired buses and is the only year that she didn't have to walk to school. After graduating Louise spent eleven months in Harrison, Arkansas working at Obermans Garment Factory. From there she migrated to Springfield, Missouri where she enrolled in Draughns Business School. While there she stayed with a family who paid her five dollars a week to babysit their son. Needing money she found a job at the Lily Tulip Corporation working from 7 PM till 1 o'clock at night, and again in her own words, ''I found it too hard to go to school and work too: so I quit class. My sister Wanda and I got an apartment at 515 Monroe Street and continued to work at Lily Tulip until I got married on February 14th, 1954.'' After she and James were married they spent a little time in California, where they lost their first child, James Timothy, and then in New Mexico but ended up coming back home where they then began focusing on raising their own family. In 1970 James decided to give California one more go, but a year and a half later they were back home in Leslie again. Let me tell you that grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence. Those were hard times, moving across the country with four kids, one of which was just a baby! When they finally got back to Arkansas she had had enough! Within a year or so after returning from California they had purchased a three bedroom trailer and moved it onto five acres that was a part of her old home place. Meanwhile she landed a job at the Flint Rock Shirt Factory in Marshall where she would work for many years until it finally closed down in the late nineties, at which time she retired. In the early eighties with the help of their eldest son, Mike who had became a carpenter they were able to scrape together and save enough to, in stages, build a new house just across the meadow and within sight of the one in which she was born and raised in and right across the road from her sister and best friend, Wanda. Louise loved her home and that is where she would contentedly spend the rest of her life. She was raised a Methodist but as an adult, began attending the First Assembly of God in Leslie with her sister Wanda where she became a lifelong member. She was a devoted Christian and served her church in many capacities, such as Adult Sunday school teacher for 25 years, and secretary for Sunday School/missions for 50 plus years. Her hobbies included keeping her house tidy and seasonal, sewing/quilting, tending her yard with its many plants and flowers, feeding the birds in winter and attending church singings.

Louise is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, James Franklin Treat; her parents, Tom and Lillian Campbell; infant sister, Edna; infant son, James Timothy Treat; brothers, Tommy Campbell and Fred Campbell; and sister, Emma Jean Martin.

Survivors include her sisters, Virginia Woods of Nixa, MO, Wanda Rains of Leslie and Lelia Mull of SC; sons, Mike Treat (Kathy), Phillip Treat (Amberly), and Russell Treat (Fawn), all of Leslie; one daughter, Elise Morando, also of Leslie; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, church family, extended family and friends who loved her.

Funeral services for Louise will be 2:00 PM Thursday, May 15th, 2025 at the Leslie Assembly of God Church with Bro. Cairl Baysinger and Phillip Treat officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 till 2:00 PM preceding the service. Burial will be in Nubbin Hill Cemetery. Bearers will be Doug Campbell, Anthony DeVore, Randy Rose, James Ray, Kevin Parent and Jarrett Yingling.
