Coy Lee Glover

Coy Lee Glover, 93, passed away on Tuesday, February 25th, 2025. He was born in Marche, Arkansas on November 22, 1931. He was the son of the late Coy Glover, Sr. and Hazel Henson Glover.

He was a graduate of Conway High School and ASTC (known currently as UCA) where he attended on a full baseball scholarship and played 3rd base. After graduation, his career began as a coach and teacher at Guy Perkins School. He temporarily left teaching and spent time "house-moving", owner of a gas/grocery store and working in construction as assistant to Charles Nabholz before he went back to teaching and coaching at Conway Public Schools. He was assistant coach to CD Taylor and later to Joe Graham during the 1976 season when the boys' basketball team finished undefeated (36-0) and won the Overall State championship.

Coy was ordained as a deacon at Brumley Baptist Church and then moved his membership to Second Baptist Church in Conway, AR where he was a faithful member for over 60 years.

He was a Sergeant 1st Class in the Arkansas Army National Guard for over 40 years, from 1950 to November 1991. He was an Equipment Records and Parts Specialist and head of the motor pool. He was also a Cavalry Scout which is a soldier who serves as a reconnaissance specialist and is responsible for gathering intelligence during combat, such as enemy position, vehicles, weapons and activity. Twice he received the Rifle M1 SPS Qualification badge which is awarded for expert marksmanship.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Lessie Turner Glover; daughter, Marsha Leigh Cruse and brother, Jerry Wayne Glover. He is survived by a sister, Marilyn Mathis (Jerry); sister-in-law, Frankie Glover and many nieces, nephews, friends and family.

Funeral services will be held at Crestlawn Memorial Park on Friday, February 28, 2025 at 1:00pm.
