of Harrison, AR
September 8, 1935 - January 30, 2025
Sarah Bell Demoy Thurman, age 89, was born in St. Joe, Arkansas. She passed away at her home in Harrison, AR on January 30, 2025.
Demoy married John Gladden (Gabby) Thurman on December 26, 1955. Gabby and Demoy lived and worked the family farm raising their four daughters. Together, they were long time members of Tomahawk Baptist Church. When they moved to Harrison, they attended Union Baptist Church and Red Oak Baptist Church.
Demoy loved doing many things with her family, as long as they were together, she was happy. She and Gabby traveled the country in their motor home, they would camp and attend gospel and blue grass festivals. Later she enjoyed going to the gospel music fests at Silver Dollar City. Demoy was a expert seamstress, she made her daughters clothing and their treasured wedding dresses.
If someone needed something sewn, mended or fixed, Demoy was the "go to" in the family. Demoy loved crocheting and quilting, she took pride in teaching her girls. Demoy made every daughter and every grandchild a homemade quilt. Demoy loved to work in her yard, making sure it was mowed, trimmed and in the fall she made sure to have the leaves mulched.
Demoy loved to read the bible and was looking forward to the day when she could meet her father in heaven and to see all the loved ones who had gone before her. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gabby Thurman and two grandsons, Bobby Lee Coffman and Brian Biehler.
She is survived by her sister, Wilma Davis; brother, Haskel Barnett and her four daughters, Beverly and Oscar Lewis of Groesbeck, TX, Debbie and Wayne Trammell of Yellville, AR, Sharon and Martin Gilzow of Lowell, AR and Diane Davidson of Harrison, AR. Six grandchildren, John Chrisman, Chrissy Biehler Ford, Michael Chrisman, Shawn Coffman, Cody Davidson and Sarah Davidson. Demoy enjoyed one great grandson, Joey Chrisman; great-great-grand grandson, Wesley Chrisman and a host of family and friends that will miss her very much.
She was very happy she got to spend her last days in her home that she loved. A special thank you to Brenda Crow for coming each day to help make it possible for her to be at home.
" We will miss you, Mom. We rejoice knowing you are in heaven."
