Peter Angus Mackercher II was born in Ponca City, OK on June 27, 1946 to Peter Angus Mackercher, M.D. and Mildred Marie Wright.

Dr. Mackercher graduated from Ponca City High School (OK) in 1964. He then graduated from Westminister College (Fulton, MO) in 1968. After that, he went to the University of MO (Columbia, MO) where he completed medical school, as well an internship and residency in Internal Medicine and a Gastroenterology Fellowship.

He became a Lt. Commander in the Navy and served 2yrs at the Navy Hospital in Great Lakes, IL. In 1974, he married Ellen Annette Cooper, and he built a 40-year medical practice in Mountain Home, AR at Baxter Regional Hospital. He served in many leadership capacities in the medical field, and served on various boards (soccer, and church). He also served on the Advisory Council of ASU in Mountain Home from 1995-2001.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen, two children Rachel and Peter III (Bridget Doherty), four grandchildren: Malachi and Kale Mackercher-May of Mountain Home, AR, and Mackenzie and Peter IV Mackercher of St. Louis, MO, along with many nieces and nephews.

Dr. Mackercher is preceded in death by his parents, sister; Christina Hamilton Mackercher Humann, and brother-in-laws; Robert Chandler and Cecil Cooper.

Dr. Mackercher was an excellent husband, father, grandfather, friend, physician, and mentor to many. In his eyes, there was never a stupid question, only the one you were afraid to ask. His true specialty was listening.
Visitation at Roller Funeral Home, Monday, Dec.2 from 5-7. Funeral at the Fellowship Cumberland Presbyterian Church on Hwy 5 South Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 2 PM with Military Honors and will be live streamed.

Graveside service at Baxter Memorial Gardens (Roller Funeral Home) following services. After the burial, there will be a reception at the Fellowship Cumberland Presbyterian Church in the fellowship hall, where coffee, punch, and cookies will be served.

He was a soccer enthusiast and was also very concerned about food hunger, education, conservation, and the environment. Instead of flowers, we are asking people to make a donation to their favorite charity. Pete's favorite charity was Twin Lakes Community Foundation at 1216 Hwy 62 East, Mountain Home, AR., 72653.
