John David Apple

June 14, 1953- April 24, 2024

John David Apple, aged 70, of Conway, Arkansas left his earthly home to join his savior on April 24, 2024. He is survived by his loving and devoted partner, Steve McGarrigle, of 34 years.

John was born in Long Beach, CA in June of 1953. He was the youngest of two children of Beatrice and Ray Apple, formerly of Malvern, Arkansas. His family migrated to California in the early 1940's for a better life. His older brother, Sherman, preceded him in death in September of 2022. His mother's family (Harkrider) were some of the founding members of Conway, AR.

John had a passion for horse racing he inherited from his parents. As a child, he would get dragged between Hollywood Park, Santa Anita, Del Mar and Los Alamitos Race Course every weekend. As an adult, he would get a thrill from hitting a race track in a foreign country he was traveling in and he visited many. John would follow and ''bet the ponies'' daily. Sometimes, Steve would find him with the races on the TV, his tablet, desktop, laptop and phone simultaneously. His $2 bets never won him the big jackpot but he loved the thrill of winning a few dollars on occasion.

Music was another passion he had. His vinyl collection is impressive and something he enjoyed on a regular basis. He would sit for hours on end with his headphones on spinning records until the early morning hours. He loved hitting record stores to find those obscure recordings or just fun albums or artists he always wanted. However, the condition and ''press location'' were top priority for him!

John was clearly devoted to his family and God. He was baptized as an adult in the Episcopal church in Long Beach, CA. His devotion to his faith never wavered. He deeply believed that God put him on this earth for a reason and gave him a purpose while he was here. We often said when he had health issues that would have taken any one of us, that God wasn't done with him yet and there was a reason for him to remain. He was so happy to find the loving arms of St. Peter's Church when we moved to Conway. He often said that ''God led us here''.

John's infectious laugher will remain with us forever. His smile, quick wit and side eye will never be forgotten. He loved to laugh and make others laugh as well. He often said that the secret to a long and healthy relationship was laughter.

His mission here is complete by the lives he's touched. We all have ''experienced'' John and will either smile, laugh, or shake our heads. Either way, he will be greatly missed and forever loved.

Rest in peace John. I, and all who met you, will always love you.
