Jimmie Wayne CrockettI am a Veteran.

of Rose Bud, AR

June 13, 1937 - March 11, 2024

Jimmie Wayne Crockett, 86, of Rose Bud, Arkansas, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024 after a courageous eight-year battle with Parkinson's disease and Lewy body dementia.

Born on June 13, 1937 in Rose Bud, Arkansas, Jimmie was the beloved son of the late Dayton and Viva Crockett. He graduated from Rose Bud High School in 1955 and embarked on a journey of service and community dedication that defined his life. Jimmie served our country with honor in the Arkansas Army National Guard for nine years, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. Notably, on October 3, 1963, his unit had the esteemed privilege of participating in the reception line for President John F. Kennedy during the dedication of Greers Ferry Dam in Heber Springs, Arkansas-an experience Jimmie cherished deeply.

In 1964, Dodson Maddox offered Jimmie and his brother, Donald an opportunity to purchase his business, Maddox Grocery, which became Crockett Brothers Grocery, Feed, Seed and Fertilizer on January 1, 1965. Throughout the years, the store was a cornerstone of the community, known for Jimmie's warm smile and friendly demeanor. It was not just a place to shop, but also a gathering spot where locals would meet, chat, and enjoy a soda and snack. Jimmie's commitment to service extended beyond the store, as he also dedicated himself to farming and raising cattle.

Jimmie's impact extended far beyond the aisles of his store and the fields of his farm. He served on numerous state and local boards, including Jacksonville's First Electric Cooperative Corporation, where his dedication spanned from 1974 to 2017. Jimmie's involvement with First Electric was not merely a duty but a bond akin to family, fostering close relationships with fellow members and their families.

Outside of his professional and civic endeavors, Jimmie found joy in gardening, cheering on the Razorbacks and most importantly, spending time with his grandchildren. His home was a place of boundless love and laughter, where he imparted his wisdom and the rule that "there are no rules at Paw-Paw's house".

Preceded in death by his parents and two grandchildren, Tanner and Brooklyn Rose; Jimmie is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Sharen and their three daughters, Elizabeth (Steve) Rose of Searcy, Julie (Robert) Reedy of Rose Bud and Kristen (Heath) Mote of McRae. He leaves a legacy of love and kindness through his six grandchildren, Robby and Brayden Reedy, Avery and Allison Mote and Tyler and Elyn Rose. He also leaves behind his cherished brother and best friend, Donald Crockett of Rose Bud, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a vast network of extended family and friends.

Jimmie was a beacon of strength and compassion, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him. His quiet demeanor and selfless devotion to his family and community earned him respect and admiration. His passing creates a void in the hearts of many, but his legacy of love and service will endure through the generations.
