Doris Jean Hall

of Mountain View, AR

April 9, 1937 - January 16, 2024

Doris Jean (Ward) Hall, 86, died on January 16, 2024 in Mountain View, Arkansas. Doris was born on April 9, 1937 in Optimus, Arkansas to Inez and Joe Ward. She attended various schools in Stone County and while enrolled at Pleasant Grove met her future husband, Dean Hall. They were married April 26, 1953 at Mountain View, Arkansas and were blessed with two sons, Rick and Galen. Dean and Doris lived and worked all over the country, eventually settling in Eudora, Kansas. Doris worked at Hallmark in Lawrence and later became a cook at Eurdora High School, to the everlasting gratitude of her two sons who were always blessed with generous portions of food. In 1980 Dean and Doris moved back to Pleasant Grove, Arkansas and raised chickens. Doris loved to cook, garden and read and most of all spending time with her grandkids. She was well known for her various pies and rolls, of which she baked many in order to raise funds for numerous school and community projects. Her grandchildren fondly remember the many summers spent at grandma's house, being spoiled with good food and annual trips to Sylamore Creek, she also took all 5 of them on a train ride by herself; she could often be found in the kitchen cooking up a mess of beans and cornbread or tending to her big garden in the backyard. She was a faithful Christian woman who loved the Lord and her family.

She is preceded in death by her husband of almost 70 years, Dean Hall; her parents, Joe and Inez Ward; her siblings, Glen Ward and wife, Linda, Paul Ward, Peggy Roper and husband, Bobby.

She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Nicole Hall of Marysville, Kansas and Galen and Crystal Hall of Guion, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Christopher Hall of Minneapolis, MN, Benjamin Hall of Cut Bank, MT, Aaron Hall (& Jessica Meece) of Benton, AR, Jessical Salmon (& Riley) of Glendale, AZ and Matthew Hall (& Katie) of Guion, AR; one great-grandson, Van Salmon and a host of family, friends and neighbors.
