Margaret L. Grissom

Margaret Grissom, lovingly known as Nana, peacefully departed from this world on September 18, 2023 in Jonesboro, Arkansas, at the age of 88. She was born on March 27, 1935 in the serene town of Doyle, Tennessee. Margaret was a woman of grace, warmth and unwavering devotion to her family and friends.

Margaret was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and cherished friend. Her heart overflowed with love for her children, Don Grissom, Jeff and Sheila Grissom, Greg and Sandy Grissom and her treasured grandchildren, James, Maggie, Faith, Bree and Jenna Grissom. She also experienced the joy of being a great-grandmother to Emma and Jacob. Margaret was very close to her sisters, Gloria, Janette and their families as well.

Throughout her distinguished career, Margaret dedicated 39 years to the noble profession of education. She imparted knowledge and wisdom as a revered third-grade teacher at Bragg Elementary and Richland Elementary within the West Memphis School District. Margaret's passion for shaping young minds left an indelible mark on countless students, who will forever carry her legacy.

Guided by her unwavering faith, Margaret found solace and spiritual nourishment in the embrace of her church community. She was an active and devout member of the First Baptist Church in West Memphis, Arkansas where she sought strength, solace and connection with her fellow worshippers.

Beyond her professional and religious pursuits, Margaret found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She possessed a green thumb and delighted in cultivating a vibrant garden adorned with an array of flowers. Margaret's heart swelled with happiness when surrounded by her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, relishing in their laughter and creating cherished memories.

A service honoring Margaret's life and legacy, will be held at the First Baptist Church at 200 North Missouri Street in West Memphis, AR. The visitation will take place at 11:00 am, followed by a service at 12:00 pm, where family, friends and community members will gather to pay their respects and celebrate the remarkable life of Margaret.

As we bid farewell to Margaret, let us remember her as a beacon of love, kindness and unwavering dedication to family, profession and faith. Margaret's memory will forever grace our hearts and her gentle spirit will continue to inspire us to live lives filled with compassion, grace and devotion to those that she held dear.
