Marcia L Delaney

of Ormond Beach, FL

October 7, 1948 - April 23, 2023

Marcia Hine Delaney was born October 7, 1948, in
Newfield, New York. She died at the age of 74 on
April 23, 2023, in Ormond Beach, Florida.
Marcia, who loved being both a mom and a grandmother, grew up in the Newfield area. She earned a
nursing degree from Corning Community College and
worked at several hospitals, including Columbia, Mo.,
where she met Dr. Rick Delaney, who was doing his
residency. They were married on September 15, 1979,
just a few months before they moved to Maryland,
where Rick served four years in the United States Air
Force. Their two children were born in Maryland
before they moved as a family to the Daytona Beach
area in 1984.
Marcia was saved by God's grace in 1997 and baptized that same year at Riverbend Community Church,
where she was active in several ministries for 26
years. She loved singing hymns and praise music and
sang in the Riverbend Worship Choir. She taught
teenage girls in Sunday School and served many years as a volunteer secretary/receptionist
on the Riverbend staff. She also enjoyed participating in Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) for
seven years.
Marcia, who in her youth and early adulthood had played organized softball, thoroughly enjoyed traveling, especially spending summers in the Finger Lakes area of upstate New York.
Marcia is survived by her husband of nearly 44 years, Rick Delaney of Ormond Beach, Fl.;
daughter Erika Hargrave (husband Nathan) of Jonesboro, Ark.; son James Brock Delaney
(wife Tiffany) of Ormond Beach; brothers Doug Hine and David Hine and sister Ginny Lambert,
all of Newfield, N.Y.; sister-in-law Lynn Bruner of Jonesboro; grandchildren Delaney Hargrave,
Joseph Hargrave, Lorelei Hargrave and Joanna Hargrave, all of Jonesboro; Warrick Delaney,
Lucy Delaney, Vera Delaney and Wolfgang Delaney, all of Ormond Beach. Marcia was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Jeanette Hine of Newfield.
''Marcia was the most beautiful person I've ever known-both in her outward beauty and in her
loving, giving heart,'' said husband Rick. ''She never knew a stranger and had a gift for making
everyone feel welcome. Her smile was such a genuine reflection of her love for the Lord that it
would light up a room.''
Daughter Erika added: ''She was a Christ-filled woman who was always joyful. She could fold a
fitted sheet like I've never seen, quiet my screaming babies and make any difficult situation
bearable with her laughter and encouragement. She deeply loved her family and shared the
love of Christ with everyone.''
