Marilyn Brewster

On March 9th, Marilyn Turner Brewster passed into heaven
 after a long battle with cancer. Marilyn was born on October 23,1949, third child of Orville and Florence Turner, in Enid, Oklahoma.
The family moved to Arkansas when Marilyn was five. She was a 1967 graduate of Little Rock Central High School. She served as Editor of the 1967 PIX yearbook. She earned her BSE and MSE degrees from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.

Marilyn worked for the Little Rock Public Schools for 45 years, serving as a teacher of American History at her alma mater, LRCH, from 1971-1986. She served 30 years as a senior high Assistant Principal at LRCH, Hall High and Parkview Magnet High Schools. Students in her classroom will remember her love of history and her ability to impart information in a storytelling format. She will be remembered for her wit and sense of fairness. As a school administrator, Marilyn helped young adults learn to make better decisions and to overcome consequences of poor choices they had made. She made many valuable friendships with colleagues from the three campuses over her 45 year career. She retired in 2016.
Marilyn loved to travel, visiting San Francisco, New York, Seattle, New Orleans, Chicago, San Diego stateside. In her younger years, she travelled to London and southern England, Italy, France, Switzerland, Belgium, and Austria. Once she retired, she took memorable trips to both Iceland and Ireland.

She took great pleasure in her flower garden, often saying it was where she felt the most at peace. As an adult, Marilyn was a member of St. James Methodist Church in Little Rock.
Marilyn is predeceased by her parents, Orville and Florence Turner, and her older brother, Gerald. She is survived by one son, Jason Brewster, of Rogers, Arkansas. His adoption as a newborn was the transformative blessing of her life; sister, Carol Burton of Meridian, Mississippi; niece, Ann Carol Purvis and nephew, John Burton also of Meridian, Mississippi; sister-in-law Barbara Turner of Little Rock; nephews, Scott Turner of Little Rock and Steven Turner of Cabot, Arkansas. Her cats had a special place in her heart: Snickers, Nelson, Bailey.

The family extends their gratitude to Kayla Bogle and her team at First Choice Senior Care, and Bridgett Graves RN and her team at Hospice Home Care for their compassion and professionalism during Marilyn's care. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Pulaski County Humane Society or a charity of your choice in Marilyn's memory

A graveside service will be held at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander, Arkansas on March 22nd at 1:00 p.m.
