David Goines passed from this life on March 2, 2023 in Little Rock, Arkansas. David was born in Atkins, Arkansas to Faye Goines and Mildred Robinson on November 10, 1952. He was one of 12 children. In Atkins, he completed early elementary grades and then moved to Russellville, where he attended Russellville High School. He was very involved in track & field and football before graduating in 1971. His athletic skill & speed led him to Hendrix College on a Track & Field scholarship. He also played football for the college, until he injured his knee and football was out. David joined the United States Navy from July 1971 thru July 1975 and served his country honorably as a Bomb Ordinance Technician. Then he joined the United States Army in September 1975 thru September 1979 and served honorably as Communications Technician and Military Security. Upon his honorable discharge, he moved back to Florida and began working for Florida Steel as an overhead crane operator. He attended Florida State University and received his associate degree in Criminal Justice. He moved back to Arkansas in 1997 and continued in the steel business as a machine operator for AFCO Metals. In 1999, he changed occupations, joined the Merchant Marines and attended tankerman school and became trained to be tankerman/deck hand on the barges for American Commercial Barge Lines. He worked long hard hours on the barges for 6-8 weeks at a time, then getting a 1-2 week break and then went right back to do it all again. He did that for 10 years. In 2010, he returned to North Little Rock, Arkansas and started back in the steel business again as an Inventory Specialist for Welspun Steel for a couple years. It was at this time that he met the love of his life, Pam Foley. In 2012, he became a Machine Apprentice & Operator for Cameron for a couple of years. Then he officially retired in December 2014. It wasn't too long after that when he moved to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma to be with his sweetheart. After several years, He decided he wanted to go back to work for a couple of years before officially retiring again, so he worked for Amazon as a fulfillment specialist and for Rock Region Metro as a driver. He was waiting until his sweetheart retired from the Army in May, so they could travel and enjoy their future together.

David was a man of faith and loved the Lord with all of his heart. He attended many churches and was a Sunday School teacher for many years for youth boys. He strived after the Lord. You can see David was very talented and wore many different hats. David was a super hard worker, no matter where he worked he gave it his absolute best. He was an honest & dedicated worker, an absolute asset to any company. Besides working hard, he played hard too. He loved golf, he would try to golf a few times a week. He loved horse racing. He loved going to the casinos with his brothers. He was very talented and not much that he couldn't figure out. He was an optimist, fun loving, very personable, humble and kind. He was very generous and thoughtful. He was always quite the gentleman. He took great pride in taking care of his things; he washed and waxed his vehicles weekly. He was a great friend, always present in time of need. He knew how to laugh or to sit in quiet for support. He had the biggest smile and always eager to help folks. He always gave of himself.
