Christopher Brandon Williams

of Little Rock, AR

March 19, 1966 - February 27, 2023

Christopher Brandon Williams, 56, left to be with God on Feb. 27, 2023 after a long, painful illness he fought bravely for several years. All along he maintained his sense of humor, unflagging optimism and devotion to caring for his mother.

A native of Shreveport, LA, he attended schools in several towns in southern Arkansas, including Warren and Crossett, graduating from Camden Senior High School in 1984. A gifted athlete, he was a statewide ranked tennis player during his high school years. He graduated from Westminster College, Fulton, MO, where he was a member of the Delta Tau Chapter of Sigma Chi International Fraternity and worked as a professor's assistant. He also studied at the University of Tulsa.

He worked in several pursuits, especially in politics, serving in management roles in three national-level campaigns for Rep. Beryl Anthony, Pres. Bill Clinton and Sen. John Kerrey during his presidential campaign. As a disaster relief worker with the American Red Cross, he assisted displaced families during the Great Mississippi Flood. His most rewarding and profitable accomplishments came as a successful artist, specializing in abstract and expressionistic art, often composing pieces with bold colors and incorporating experimental additions, especially organic substances. He was commissioned to paint a number of still life and landscape pieces and branched into multi-media compositions on glass, foraged wood and other natural canvases. He eventually began composing dioramas, including an elaborate installation incorporating water fountains, miniature forests, fluorescent paints, black lights and lighted pavilions.

A lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church (USA), he served on the mission and outreach committee. In 2019, Chris participated in a mission to Honduras to help build infrastructure and aid in a necessary surgery for a young Honduran boy with congenital illnesses. Compassionate and empathetic, he supported a number of charities charged with alleviating food insecurity, environmental concerns, social inequity and discrimination.

Chris is survived by his mother, Sharon Gladin Williams; brother, H.G. "Tres" Williams, III; aunt, Susan Gladin; three close cousins, Frank, Chad and Matthew Love with whom he was raised; two first cousins, Jessie Gladdeck and Amanda Gladin-Kramer; other devoted cousins, Amy Love and Bill McLaurin and his wife, Margaret; one surviving great-aunt, Patricia Gladin Williams; a wonderful extended family and many beloved friends, fraternity brothers and members of his church family at Grace Presbyterian Church in Little Rock.

A memorial service for Chris will be held at Grace Presbyterian Church at 9301 N. Rodney Parham Road in Little Rock at 3:00 CDT on April 15. 2023. A celebration of Chris' life will follow the service at the church.

Any memorial gifts would be most welcomed to support the Human Rights Campaign or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).
