Martha Kay Padgett

of Conway, AR

May 16, 1948 - February 25, 2023

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Martha Kay Beene Padgett, our dearest and most loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend to all whose lives she touched, on Saturday, February 25, 2023.

The Lord called her home while sleeping peacefully at her residence in Conway, Arkansas at the age of 74. She had valiantly battled cancer for two years and had shown great strength and determination. She fought to the very end and never let the illness take her spirit.

Born in Heber Springs on her mother's birthday, May 16, 1948 to Amos Westerfield Beene and Blanche Eloise Lawrence Beene.

She was the devoted wife of 57 years to Thomas Leo Padgett and beloved mother of Heather Paige Avaritt (John) and Summer Dawn Harrison (Kelton). Proud grandmother of Michaela Paige Avaritt, Sydney Nicole Avaritt, Jackson Thomas Avaritt (Annabelle), Jaden Stone Padgett, Sterling Valor Harrison and Arden Haven Harrison. The youngest sibling to Patsy Louise Earnhart and Ronnie Sherman Beene (Mary). Aunt to many nephews and nieces and a host of great nephews and nieces. Known to all those who loved her as KK.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her nephew, Lee Sherman Beene.

She was a woman of many varied talents and careers. Some of which include being one of the first of two female telephone pole climbers for Southwestern Bell Telephone in Faulkner County, a waitress, always involved in the leadership of the PTO at her children's school, an artist, a master cake artist, an excellent cook, an administrative assistant and successful at several entrepreneurial endeavors, all while being a remarkable homemaker. Her creativity and perfectionism lead her to master anything she set her mind to do. She enjoyed traveling, writing, bowling and most of all spending time with her family and friends.

She was blessed to have a lifelong friend, Linda Skyrme, who throughout her life was always there for her, whether it was to travel and go on adventures, or just simply sit and hold her hand through the struggles of life.

Most of all she was a strong Christian woman who instilled love for God in her family and all those who she touched. She was a member of the Highway 65 Church of Christ where she attended for many years.
