Remembering a Life of Service
Reva Duncan was the seventh child and youngest daughter born to Cletus Walker and Ora Arnold Walker on October 18, 1926. It was instilled in her, that Walker was an honorable name and that she was not to do anything to dishonor it. Reva graduated from Mount Vernon High School at 17 in 1944. She went to work at the Ammunition Plant in Jacksonville, Arkansas. She had to lie that she was 18 to start to work. She and Eva lived in a boarding house while working in Jacksonville.

Reva was not active in church, but felt the need to have the Lord in her life. Reva and her sisters attended revival. Reva made her decision public that she believed in God but wasn't ready to be baptized. She and her family of four moved to Searcy. She and her two young sons attended the First Baptist Church. Reva felt secure in her faith and was baptized. She placed her life in God's hands depending on Him to hold her tight. Reva was an active member of First Baptist Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher for many years.

Reva was a den mother for her son's Cub Scout troop. She taught her sons to cook, clean and do the laundry. Reva's greatest joys are her grandchildren. She loved spoiling them with their favorite foods and trips to the park and swimming pool. She loved reading stories and telling stories of her own.

Reva was an accomplished seamstress. She sewed for her young boys. She made a niece's wedding dress and tailored suits for her son and a State Rodeo Queen. Her greatest joy was sewing for her granddaughters. Reva worked for Kroger's Grocery Store for 29 years in Searcy. She was a stock clerk and a checker. She was well liked by employees and regular customers.

Reva enjoyed fishing and camping trips with her family. She enjoyed traveling extensively with friends and family. Her travels took her to Scotland, London, hiking in the Swiss Alps and Paris. In 1990 she traveled to Israel and the Holy Lands. She dropped her purse in the Sea of Galilee. At the age of 79, Reva took her last trip, on a schooner. The tourists were treated as crew members and helped do all the work rigging, sailing and swabbing the decks. She loved playing cards with a group of friends and they played on Mondays. She was always a whiz at Scrabble. She loved to read.

Reva was ready to go to her heavenly home long before the Lord called her. Her vision kept her from enjoying most of the things she enjoyed. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Athen, Tom and Wayne Walker and her sisters, Alberta Quick, Voyne Quick and Eva Lammers.

She is survived by her sons, Russell Duncan (Ruth) of Romance, Arkansas and Randall Duncan (Cathy) of Searcy, Arkansas. Her grandchildren, Kevin Duncan (Lacey) of Little Rock, AR, Darrin Duncan (Amanda) of Mount Vernon, AR, Kristin Smith (Chris) of Vilonia, AR, Catherine Duncan of Rockwall, Texas; six great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one brother, Max Walker of Little Rock, AR and many nieces and nephews along with two sisters-in-law.
