Shirley Horace Dyke, 96, of Mountain View, Arkansas passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 in Mountain View, Arkansas. Mr. Dyke was born on Tuesday, June 8, 1926 in Edinburgh, Indiana to the late Harry Vernon Dyke and Anna Grimes Dyke.
Mr. Dyke was a Christian and was known for helping a lot of people. Shirley served our country in the United States Marine Corps for over twenty-five years, attaining the rank of Warrant Officer 1. His time in the service spanned across three wars, World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He stated that military schools were challenging but completed a Basic Utilities Course and was also able to accomplish courses in Engineer Air Field Construction, Mechanic-Gas Engines, Basic and Advanced Electrical courses, Refrigeration and Air Condition, Plumbing and Water Treatment, Power Distribution and Generators, Electric Motor Rewind and Rebuild and the Utilities Chief Schools. Shirley always said, ''I would encourage any young person (male or female) to serve in the Military and complete as much training as possible, and at the same time getting paid to learn beneficial lifelong skills.'' He was a founder of the Stone County Honor Guard, Stone County Veteran of Foreign Wars, AMVETS Organization, and the American Legion.

Left to cherish his memory are; his loving wife of sixty-nine years, Hannah McKee Dyke; two brothers, Harry Dyke of Fort Myers, Florida, Marion ''Tuck'' Dyke of Indianapolis, Indiana, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Mr. Dyke is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Betty Tomlinson, Joy White.

A graveside service will be 1PM EST Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Rest Haven Cemetery near Edinburgh, Indiana. Military Honors will be provided by the Stone County Honor Guard and the United States Marine Corps.

A memorial service in Mountain View, Arkansas will be scheduled at a later date.
