Cecil Augustus Ruffin

of West Memphis, AR

August 2, 1933 - October 23, 2022

Cecil Augustus Ruffin was born on August 2nd 1933 to Milton and Lucinda Ruffin in Dewitt Arkansas.

Cecil was a man that enjoyed the simple things in life, such as a good meal shared with family and listening to his favorite gospel artists. One of his favorite activities was traveling the United States. As an over the road truck driver he visited 48 states, but was unable to see any of the attractions, so in retirement he tried to travel back to the sites he had always wanted to visit while he was working. He was even able to visit a state he had never been to before by taking a fishing trip to Alaska.

In his professional life Cecil began in the Army and was deployed to Germany where he would meet his future wife of 62 years Patricia Ann Hammerstone. After returning to the United States, they together raised three daughters, Sheila, Barbara, and Cindi. While Cecil worked on a barge that ran on the Mississippi river.

As his children grew older he became a long distance truck driver, which is the period he traveled so many places. He eventually took a driving job in Memphis so he could spend more time with his family.

In his personal life Cecil's three daughters had four grandchildren Jeremy Tolleson, Josh Oakley, Amanda Maglothin and Sarah McDaniel, he also had two great children, Bradley Tolleson and Abby Oakley. He was loved by friends and neighbors alike, and was an active member of First Baptist Church in West Memphis. He enjoyed traveling to see family members, gospel singers, working with his hands, and always sharing an old story. Cecil is survived by one brother, Merlin Ruffin (92) of Stuttgart Arkansas.
