Margaret Beatrice McDaniel Brunet

of Grimes, IA

March 15, 1921 - September 24, 2022

Margaret Beatrice McDaniel Brunet was born March 15, 1921 in Forrest City, Arkansas to James Henry McDaniel and Nora Lucille McDaniel. Margaret stepped into Heaven on September 24, 2022 at the age of 101 years and 6 months. She is now reunited with her husband of 63 years, Leo (Lee) Joseph Brunet and her older siblings brothers, James Henry McDaniel, Jesse Lee McDaniel (both who lived to 100+ years); half-sister, Elizabeth (Lizzie) Lunsford and brother-in-law, Arthur J. Brunet and his wife, Mary Helen Brunet.

Margaret is survived by her three children, Lisa Brunet Sparks (David), James (Lanny) Brunet and Christie Brunet Mitchell (Rick). She was Little Nannie to Jennifer Sparks, Christopher Sparks, Sarah Mitchell O'Neal, Ben Mitchell and Katie Mitchell Dollar. Margaret was Nannie to 9 great grandchildren, Dalton, Davis and Deacon Sparks, Lauren Howard, Alec, Madelyn, Aaron and Marley O'Neal and Greyson Mitchell.

Margaret's employment career included working during WWII in a munitions factory, a plant that made tent poles for the army and waitressing, where she met a handsome young soldier (Lee), whom she married in 1943. By far, her favorite job was wife, mom and homemaker. Margaret was known as an excellent seamstress, cook, baker and beloved babysitter.

When Lee's disability prevented him from working any longer, Margaret went to work at the Arkansas Employment Security Division, where she worked until her retirement in 1983.

Margaret was an avid gardener, growing beautiful flowers as well as vegetables, that she preserved to enjoy all year. She was also an avid reader, enjoying her books curled up on "her spot" on the sofa. Margaret was a faithful member of Parkview Christian Church, Bible Study Fellowship and PTA.

Margaret was a devoted caregiver to her husband, a disabled veteran, through all their marriage. She was an amazing mother, "Nannie", favorite aunt and special friend to many! She was also a favorite of her caregivers in recent years.

Margaret was a 27-year Breast Cancer Survivor and in recent years she lived with Alzheimer's disease. If you would choose so in lieu of flowers, Margaret's family suggests considering a memorial donation to either Susan G. Komen or Alzheimer's Association.

A visitation will begin at 12:30 on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, with services beginning at 1:30. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
