Edward Junior Merritt

February 17, 1941 - August 14, 2022

Edward Junior Merritt Sr., lifelong farmer and proud southern gentleman, born on February 17, 1941 became a member of God's Kingdom on August 14, 2022. Junior was a member of the Phillips County Farming Community until moving to Butlerville, where he was a hands-on grandfather who enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and dancing with his granddaughters. His kind nature will be missed by all who knew him.

Junior is survived by his son and best friend, Eddie Merritt and daughter-in-law Heidi Merritt. Proud boastful pawpaw of Nancy and Karen Merritt. Also survived by brother, Frank (Dora) Merritt; sister, Bertie (Bob) Hulsey; mother- in-law, Ollie McWilliams and sister-in-law, Peggy McWilliams. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Judy Merritt; parents, Elmer and Anna Mae Merritt; brother, George (Helen) Merritt; sister, Barbara Merritt; father-in-law, Bob McWilliams and brother-in-law, Bobby McWilliams.

A funeral service for Edward Junior Merritt Sr. will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 18, 2022 at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home Chapel in West Helena, Arkansas. A visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 18, 2022 at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Brother Bobbie Baker will officiate.
