Lawrence G. Carter, 76, of Mt. Vernon, Arkansas passed away to his heavenly home Friday, June 10, 2022. He was born March 27, 1946 to the late Thomas Jefferson Carter and Blanche Garrett Carter of Holland, Arkansas.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Lawrence is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Mrs. Sandra Kelley Carter; two children, Ranea Hawkins (Darren) of Mt. Vernon, Michael Carter (Marrey) of Enola; four grandchildren, Derek Hawkins (Becca) of Vilonia, Ashley Brown (Luke) of Benton, Bryce Carter of Fort Smith, Bailey Carter of Atlanta, Georgia; four great-grandchildren, Makinley and Hudson Hawkins and Brynlee and Lainee Brown; brother, Charles Carter (Linda) of Conway and his sister, Madeleine Paul (Charles) of Conway.
Lawrence was a Greenbrier High School graduate and was retired from the U.S. Army as a Purple Heart recipient. He was member of the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. He loved to deer hunt when he was able. He was the best at telling jokes. He enjoyed making people laugh and loved to tease everyone. His children are his pride and joy. He loved his family.
The family would like to express their thanks to the first responders, EMT's, doctors, and staff at Baptist Health of Conway, as well as Home Instead who provided the most wonderful caregiver, Mindy.
A visitation for Lawrence will be held at the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church at 10:00am, Tuesday, June 14, 2002, with funeral services following at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park, Conway, Arkansas.
