Sybil O Cook

of Memphis, TN

March 14, 1925 - June 5, 2022

Sybil O. Cook, 97, affectionately known as ''Bubbles'' by family and friends, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 5, 2022.
Sybil was born March 14, 1925 and raised in the family home of her great-grandmother in the Union Community of Oxford, Mississippi. In 1943, she became one of the many ''Rosie the Riveter'' women working at Fisher Aircraft, Memphis, where she met ''Cook'', the love of her life and husband for 69 years. Sybil lived in West Memphis, Arkansas for more than 50 years where she retired from real estate sales and served as an active member of the First Baptist Church. She always enjoyed a competitive game of Rummikub with friends, eventually teaching the game to her granddaughters who remember much fun and laughter playing it with her. Bubbles was a devoted grandmother to Halle and Olivia; they were the joy of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Hal Cook, Jr.; an infant son; four brothers; three sisters and her parents, Lloyd and Daisye Oliphant.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, David Hal Cook, III (Sandy); daughter, Gina Knox (Russell); granddaughters, Halle Knox, Olivia Howell (Michael); one sister Kay Tutor (Dillard) and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family is very thankful and appreciative for the staff of The Pointe at Kirby Gate in Memphis who have faithfully loved and cared for her during the last six years.
A private family graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2022.
There will be a visitation on Friday, June 10, 2022 from 10-11 am at First Baptist Church, 200 N. Missouri St. in West Memphis, AR followed by a memorial service at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the First Baptist Church in West Memphis or the charity of your choice.
