David R Cullins left this earth, June 4, 2022. David was born in Jamestown, Arkansas, July 4, 1941. David was a Christian and a member of First Baptist Church of Desha.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra (Hartwick) Cullins; daughter, Toi (Cullins) McMullin and son-in-law Johnny McMullin; one granddaughter, Kirbi Chase and her husband Tyler Garlin; sister, Alice Elumbaugh and her husband Orville Elumbaugh; brother, Ernest Cullins and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his father, David Boyce Cullins; mother, Sarah Elizabeth (James) Cullins; brothers, David Boyce Jr, Thomas, Jimmy, Johnny and sister, Kathleen Jackson.

David was a hard worker and his main concern in life was always providing the best for his family. David was gentle and kind and carried himself through his work and personal life with an upbeat attitude, a smile on his face and the ability to always see the best in everyone.

David owned and operated Fast Break System, providing vending and catering for the industries in Batesville and surrounding area. He served as President of the Arkansas Vending Council where he was admired for his kindness and hard work ethic across the state.

He was a great servant in the community by serving as President of the Desha School board for 12 years and the Southside Water Association for 10 years.

David was a 42 year veteran of the Army National Guard. He served in Kuwait during Operation Southern Watch.

When David retired from the Army National Guard at 60 years old, Operation Iraqi Freedom started. His unit was called to duty in Iraq. David missed the brothers of his unit, so he found a way to serve with them by accepting employment with Halliburton. He worked in Iraq, building and managing dining facilities on the military bases for the troops. Over a period of 18 months, he helped build and manage dining facilities throughout Iraq in Baghdad, Tikrit, and Kirkuk.

After he came back from Iraq, he became Food Service Director at Batesville School District where he finished out his career in his local community that he loved. David retired after 13 years with Batesville School District.

Pallbearers are Kenny Seaman, Rusty Elumbaugh, Steve Cullins, Rick Elumbaugh and Tyler Garlin. Honorary pallbearers are Max Edwards, Ted Hall, Ralph Jackson and David Hartwick.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at Oaklawn Cemetery at 2:00pm with Josh Swinea officiating.

In lieu of flowers, all donations may be made to Arkansas Hospice, 3000 Jennings Ln, Batesville, AR 72501.
