Rexine Elizabeth Johnson

of Flippin, AR

October 26, 1927 - June 3, 2022

Rexine Elizabeth (Wood) Johnson, 94, of Flippin, Arkansas passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on June 3, 2022. She was born October 26, 1927 in Flippin Arkansas. She was the daughter of James Rector ''Rex'' and L. Cecile (Beaver) Wood. Rexine and was united in marriage on March 29, 1945 to Arnold Ray Johnson in Gainesville, Missouri.

Rexine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Pauline Marberry and baby brother, Charles Elroy Wood.

Rexine is survived by her four children, Miriam Lonon of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, Tommy Johnson and wife Mary of Flippin, Arkansas, Marsha Neely of Flippin, Arkansas and Marilyn Doran and husband Terry of Bull Shoals, Arkansas; eleven grandchildren, Sarah Wynne (Shawn), Sharon Neely, Laura Mudd (Chris), David Lonon, Katie Bolding (Scott), Michael Johnson (Amanda), Kathleen Moore (Jeremy), B.J. Ply, Micaela Johnson (Justin Haney), Shawn Ply and Tisha Storey (Randall) and twenty-two great-grandchildren.

Rexine loved Jesus and served as His hands and feet. She was a career homemaker and farm wife, who helped tend cattle, put up hay, and raise a garden. Her cooking will surely be missed. She was a thoughtful caregiver for her parents and her mother-in-law until their deaths. She and close friend Willia Humphries spent years making quilts for all their grandchildren and many more which they gave away to those in need in the community. She was known as Memaw to her grandchildren and many of their friends. Some of our best memories took place around her kitchen table or on her front porch.

A graveside service will be Thursday, June 9, 2022 at 10:00 am at Gassville Cemetery with Ronnie Thomas officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be David Lonon, Michael Johnson, B.J. Ply, Jeremy Moore, Justin Haney and Scott Bolding. Honorary pallbearers include Shawn Wynne, Roger Tremble, Shawn Ply, Grant Lawrence and Kyle Foster.

Following the service, the family will receive guests until 1:00 pm at the Rendezvous Event Center, 6469 Hwy 62 West in Gassville, Arkansas.
