W.A. was born at the family home in Palestine, Arkansas on April 14, 1938 to the late James Arthur Massey and Stella Ophelia Arbuckle Massey. He was married to Mary Jane Brooks Massey for 60 years.

W.A. ''Dub'' graduated from Vanndale High School near Cherry Valley, Arkansas in 1956 and worked on the family farm. He joined the US Army Reserve in 1961 and served as a sergeant in the motor pool. Dub met Mary Jane Brooks in 1960 and the two married in 1961. At that time Dub began answering to ''Doug.''

Doug and Mary Jane enjoyed traveling the country in their RV for many years and especially enjoyed camping and fishing for trout at Heber Springs every chance they could.

Raised in the Methodist church where he was saved and baptized, Doug joined the Church of God when he married. Doug was an active member of his church for many years serving as the church clerk, pastor's council, children's Sunday school superintendent, and choir member. Doug and Mary Jane have regularly attended Abundant Grace Ministries for the last ten years.

Doug and Mary Jane moved to Byhalia in 1976 where he enjoyed raising cows, beekeeping for a time and planting and tending a large garden every year.

Doug lived a rich and full life guided by the Lord to serve others and never failed to help a neighbor in need.
