John David Hall was born at 32 weeks gestation on June 9, 1973, weighing 3 1/2 pounds. He had premature lungs and had to fight for his every breath. All that was available at that time was hood oxygen, but his fighting spirit gave him the determination to survive. He died May 9, 2022. He attended Little Rock Catholic High School, then the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, graduating with a degree in English in 1995. He is survived by his parents, Nancy Scott (Rick) and Dr. Whit Hall (Lisa), his siblings, Richard, James (Piper), Jesse, Nate (Jill), Mary, Annabeth and Christian Hall and Caroline Sorrows (Tommy). He is also survived by 18 nieces and nephews and a host of other friends and relatives.

His passion for life was not to be denied. He loved music (especially folk music), and playing the guitar. Although he practiced playing his instrument religiously, he played mainly for his own enjoyment; his friends just tolerated it. His kindergarten class, however, loved his playing and singing. They were inspired by his enthusiasm, although not necessarily by his talent. John loved the Razorbacks. He rarely missed a game and supported them through good years and the rare losing seasons. This past year delighted him! He was also an avid hunter and fisherman, spending many days (and nights) waiting for that elusive twelve point. As a testament to his gentle nature, when the big one did show up, John watched that beautiful animal through his scope on that frosty November morning with all the autumn color in the woods, lowered his rifle, and watched that big buck saunter away.

John's real passion and gift was teaching young children. In the classroom, he was known as "Mr. John". He loved to teach his students how to dance; he especially loved "freeze dancing" music. He worked at Children's House Montessori School most of his adult life where he influenced a generation of young students. Within the family, he had a special relationship with his many nieces and nephews. He was definitely their favorite uncle.

His personality was defined by his heart: kind and gentle. His final act of kindness was to donate his organs through ARORA, a wonderful organization, in order to give others life. His spirit will live on in this world, in his young students and in those to whom he gave the final gift through his last donation. He was just that kind of man.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like you to donate to your favorite charity in memory of John. Our suggestions include the Home for Healing, the Ronald McDonald House and Ukraine charities such as the World Health Organization. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 11, 2002, at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Pkwy, Little Rock, from 6-8 PM. A Celebration of Life will be Thursday, May 12, 2022, at 4 PM, at Christ Episcopal Church, 509 Scott St, Little Rock.
