Norma Jeanne Ausbrooks

of Little Rock, AR

October 31, 1929 - April 29, 2022

Norma Ausbrooks, 92, of Little Rock, went to be with the Lord, April 29, 2022. She was born October 31, 1929 in Little Rock, AR to Charles Winford Tate and Ouita Odine Spillman Tate.

Norma was a musician, a devoted Christian, and a mother and homemaker par excellence. She served as church organist and pianist for Gaines Street Baptist Church, which later became Olivet Baptist Church and finally Lifeway Baptist. She also taught piano to scores of students, all of whom retain fond memories of their time with her; she loved and was loved by her students. We will be writing the story of her life for the rest of ours; but what must not be forgotten here is her sparkling, sometimes irreverent sense of humor and the light she brought to all our days. She was a complete original, one of the funniest, most delightful and loveliest women any of us will ever know.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Carolyn Tate Hughes, and her husband Jack Edward Ausbrooks. She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Jack Randall (Randy) Ausbrooks of Little Rock and Ronald Winford Ausbrooks of Las Cruces, NM; a daughter-in-law, Heidi Smith Ausbrooks, and a grandson, Bryn Charles Ausbrooks; three nieces, Marsha Huckabee Helms, Terri Huckabee Sanders, and Susan Huckabee Billingsley, and a nephew, Richard Huckabee.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 5, 2022 at 12:30 pm in the chapel of Roller-Chenal Funeral Home with the funeral service following at 1 :30 pm. Brother Freddy Parker will officiate.
