Vera Elizabeth Martin, a resident of Paris, Arkansas passed away April 12, 2022 at her home at the age of 84. She was a Christian.

Vera was born February 23, 1938 to her parents, Robert Young and Beatrice (Wadsen) Young in St. Helens, Lancashire England of the United Kingdom. She came to the United States with her parents at the age of 18 on the ship M.V. Britannic and landed in New York City. They resided in Ft. Worth, Texas where she worked at the Shady Oaks Country Club. Vera met her husband, Charles W. Martin, a chef there at the club and were married for 54 years. After living in Texas for 14 ½ years the family moved to Waldron, Arkansas in November 1972. Vera spoke willingly of her time on the farm where she worked hard, both ranching and taking care of the family. Vera was a loving, kind and thoughtful woman who was known for her hand crocheted and knitted items which she always shared with others. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Charles Martin; her daughter, Karen E. Martin Mays and her sister, Edith Malone.

Survivors include her two sons, Neal Martin and wife, Kathy of Waldron and Larry Martin of Paris; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; other family members and friends.

There will be a Graveside service and burial at 10:00 A.M., Friday, April 15, 2022 at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery on Ft. Chaffee off of Rattlesnake Canyon Road, officiated by Bro. Steve Breedlove.

Pleasant Ridge Cemetery is located approximately 6 miles west of Booneville, Arkansas on Fort Chaffee. Take State Hwy 10 west out of Booneville to Rattlesnake Canyon Road just past the Sebastian County & Logan County line, turn right on Rattlesnake Canyon Road and go north approximately 1.5 mile the cemetery will be on your left.
